Camp Quality will host Brisbane's inaugural Chandon Supper Club this May, an event which promises a night of fine wine and dining, all in the name of a great cause.

Formed in 1983, Camp Quality is a non-profit organisation that is committed to bringing hope and happiness to every child living with cancer and their families. Through offering recreational, educational and financial support, the organisation is able to assist families when they are most at need. Camp Quality believes in the power of fun in helping children, a sentiment reflected in their mission statement ‘laughter is the best medicine’.

Over 150 recreational camps are held nationally each year, offering unique programs that focus directly on the child to create a positive environment of fun, support and stability. These camps also provide a valuable respite for families and siblings, giving all parties a chance to enjoy each others company away from the stresses of hospitals and medical appointments. Activities such as surfing, horse riding, abseiling, circus skills and snow skiing offer children memorable experiences.

Peta Matthews, an eight year old suffering from muscle cancer, attended a family camp part way through her second course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. “We finally got a chance to be with people who were going through the same thing. Some had gone through the same experiences, some worse. We weren't the odd ones out; we felt ‘normal’ for one weekend,” Peta said after returning from the three day camp.

To continue to provide these much needed services, the organisation relies heavily on the support of individuals, corporate donations and fundraising activities.

The Chandon Supper Club is the major fundraiser for the organisation this year, and promises to be a unique and innovative event which provides a welcome change from the traditional black tie charity event. Over thirty of Brisbane's top restaurants will each contribute a table and an exclusive menu which is to be accompanied by Chandon and Green Point wines.

Restaurants signed on to the event include Montrachet, Vino's Restaurant, Brisbane Polo Club, Cha Cha Char, Siggis, Watt Modern Dining, Restaurant Two, River Canteen and Tukka. The Brisbane Supper Club will be held on Thursday May 11.

Wines to be featured on the night include Chandon Cuvee Riche (new vintage), Green Point Yarra Valley Chardonnay (2004), Green Point Victoria Shiraz (2004) and Chandon's flagship wine, Chandon Vintage Brut (2002), a classic blend of cool climate pinot noir and chardonnay.

Each dinner party has an official host, who in turn will invite their friends, colleagues and associates to join them. In total, 12 people will make up each party and be offered an exclusive menu of four courses in an intimate dining setting in their restaurant of choice.

As an exciting climax to the evening, each dinner party will be picked up by luxury transport and taken to a secret after-party location which will enable all dinner guests, supporters and celebrities to socialise and speak of their individual dining experiences.

The after-party will provide an opportunity to share the atmosphere and excitement with more than 400 other participants in the event, whilst continuing to enjoy the fine wines provided by major sponsor Domaine Chandon. An exclusive gift will also be provided on the night for all guests.

All of the proceeds from The Chandon Supper Club will go directly towards Camp Quality.
