Since the $4 million refurbishment of the XXXX Brewery Tours in 2003, over 41 000 people have visited the XXXX Ale House, gaining an insight into the history and workings of the Queensland icon.

The XXXX Ale House was developed to commemorate the Brewery's 125th anniversary, and to provide a physical representation of the brand for XXXX lovers to experience first-hand.

It includes the Brewery Tour, merchandise shop and signature bar – which is also available for hire as a function venue.

XXXX Ale House general manager Kym O’Gorman said the enthusiasm of XXXX drinkers for their beer, and their desire to make a pilgrimage to its source, is one of the secrets to the tour’s success.

“XXXX drinkers are genuinely excited about visiting the brewery and seeing its workings first-hand,” she said.

The Brewery tour incorporates the latest technology to portray the history of beer and brewing and the colourful Castlemaine Perkins story.

The tour also guides visitors into the heart of the brewery to learn about the raw ingredients and the secrets of brewing XXXX beers.

An animated Mr Fourex teaches guests about the brewing process, and unveils the state-of-the-art Huppman Brewhouse that brews up to 250 million litres of beer each year. Installed in 2000, this is one of the most sophisticated brewhouses in Australia.

The tour also takes visitors to within metres of the keg-racking line, and into the heart of the packaging warehouse, where they can witness the Southern Hemisphere's largest single packaging line in action.

At this stage of the tour they see 2400 stubbies filled each minute, and are confronted with a sea of stubbies and cans that inspires a thirst as they near the end of the tour.

The tour concludes in the XXXX Ale House's signature bar, where guests can enjoy a taste of the XXXX beers amongst the traditional atmosphere of copper and wood.

Seven tours are scheduled daily, from Monday to Friday, and for the adult entry price of $18 visitors enjoy a 75 minute guided tour & four pots of beer in the air-conditioned comfort of the Ale House bar.
